Georgian Prime Minister Announces Plans to Mediate Relations Between Baku and Yerevan

The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili, has announced plans to visit Azerbaijan and Armenia in the near future and hopes to play a positive role in resolving relations between the neighboring countries. This was reported by TASS.

“Tomorrow, I am heading to Baku. I will meet with President Aliyev, whom I respect greatly. We have good relations. Most importantly, we trust each other. When there is trust between countries and leaders, I believe all issues can be resolved in the right way,” Garibashvili said in an interview with IMEDI TV on September 28.

“I have similar relations with the Prime Minister of Armenia, Mr. Nikol Pashinyan, who was in Tbilisi a few weeks ago. In the near future, I also plan to visit Armenia. I believe I will be able to devote all my energy to the resolution of relations between Yerevan and Baku, and play a positive role,” added the Georgian Prime Minister.

TASS reminds us that Garibashvili proposed a “peaceful neighborhood initiative” at the 76th session of the UN General Assembly to ensure peace and stability in the Black Sea region. Later, the head of the Government announced that Georgia is initiating the creation of a platform for high-level communications between the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides in Tbilisi.
