UN Secretary-General Appeals to Armenia and Azerbaijan
UN Secretary-General António Guterres hopes that Azerbaijan and Armenia will continue their dialogue following the meeting of the foreign ministers of both countries during the 76th session of the UN General Assembly. This was stated in a statement released by the UN Secretary-General's office on Monday, reported by TASS.
“The Secretary-General welcomes the resumption of direct dialogue between the ministers a year after the conflict in and around Nagorno-Karabakh and hopes that these efforts will continue and become part of a broader dialogue to address existing issues and achieve a stable and peaceful resolution,” the statement read.
Earlier, on the eve of the high-level week of the UN General Assembly, a meeting took place between Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, with the participation of the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group.
