Opposition MPs to Appeal to the Constitutional Court Over Vaccination or Testing Requirement

Opposition members of the National Assembly will appeal to the Constitutional Court regarding the order from the Minister of Health that takes effect on October 1. This was announced by Aram Vardevanyan, a member of the 'Armenia' faction, during a conversation with reporters at the National Assembly.

“One-fifth of the signatures of National Assembly deputies have already been collected, and we will appeal to the Constitutional Court against the order of the Minister of Health, which has raised significant public outcry,” Vardevanyan said. “We will also ask the Court to suspend the implementation of this order.”

He emphasized that while vaccination is important, it should be a conscious decision made by each individual. Vardevanyan pointed out that if the state mandates vaccination or the requirement of a PCR test, then the state should also subsidize the costs of these tests.

He highlighted that they will likely submit their application to the Constitutional Court today.

It is noteworthy that under the order issued by the Minister of Health on August 20, starting from October 1, employees in Armenia are required to present either a COVID-19 vaccination certificate or a negative result from a COVID-19 PCR test, conducted no more than 72 hours prior, every 14 days.
