Are Armenian Passports Stuck on the Road? "Iravunk"
"Iravunk" newspaper writes: "In recent days, there have been alarming signals in the media that citizens of Armenia who intend to change or obtain a new passport are facing problems. The regional departments of the Passport and Visa Administration are urging them to wait, claiming that the paper intended for passport printing is still unavailable.
What is actually happening has come to light with some information for "Iravunk": it turns out that previously, passports were printed in Armenia with a fairly high quality, but for various reasons under the current authorities, the printing orders are sent to Europe.
According to the same sources, all the deadlines for preparing the passports have expired, but the Republic of Armenia has not yet received the printed batch. We also contacted the Armenian police, who requested to send our inquiry in writing. Therefore, once we receive the response from the police regarding why the issuance of passports is not being appropriately conducted, where they were previously printed, and where they are currently being printed, we will present that information.
By the way, this is not the first instance where the authorities prefer European options over local ones, causing some businesspeople to simply choose to emigrate and have no dealings with Armenia."
