Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan Expected in New York: Rudenko
The Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia, Andrei Rudenko, participated in a conference organized by the Valdai Discussion Club and the Strategic and Interregional Studies Institute under the President of Uzbekistan in Tashkent, where he addressed the activities of the OSCE Minsk Group and upcoming meetings.
“I wouldn’t say that the Minsk Group is not working. The communications continue, perhaps not in such a public manner, but they exist. Our co-chair from the Minsk Group has visited Baku and Yerevan, where he held several meetings, including at the highest level,” Rudenko stated, adding that meetings are planned under the auspices of the Minsk Group soon.
“Currently, the trio of co-chairs is planning to meet in New York during the UN General Assembly, to hold meetings with each other and with the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan. If this happens, it will be a good sign that the process of resolving the issues between the two countries is practically taking shape. We continue to view the Minsk Group as an important tool for moving forward along the path of the peace process,” the diplomat said in response to a question from the TASS agency regarding a possible meeting between the parties under the co-chairs' auspices.
