I Have Never Been Rich Enough to Be Declared Bankrupt: Arakel Movsisyan

It was reported yesterday that former National Assembly MP Arakel Movsisyan of the Republican Party has been declared bankrupt by court decision. The bankruptcy court has also placed a lien on Movsisyan's property. The request to declare the former MP bankrupt was made by Ameriabank.

Arakel Movsisyan owes the bank more than 26 million drams, which he has been unable to repay.

In an interview with ArmDaily.am, Movsisyan expressed his confusion regarding the matter, stating, "I have never been rich enough to be declared bankrupt." His representative, Mayis Hovhannisyan, remarked that this is about an ordinary citizen, emphasizing that Movsisyan is just like any other person. "He has had problems; I’m not interested in his personal life, nor am I in a friendly relationship with him. As for the case, it is under review in court. The court will make its decision, and we will show our attitude towards it," he added.

When asked about the finalized decision, he responded, commenting on the prevalence of such cases, "But what does this change in our lives? Thousands of such decisions are made by the courts. Why has Arakel Movsisyan become an object of interest? I see no issue in this case; it’s just an ordinary bankruptcy case we are examining. You know how many such cases I have, who have fewer problems than Movsisyan and fewer opportunities. This is ordinary life, it’s reality. Should I tell everyone to be interested?"
