France Stands Beside Armenia: Macron Posts Message in Armenian

French President Emmanuel Macron sent a message to Armenian President Armen Sarkissian on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Armenia's independence. The message in Armenian was published on the French President's Facebook page.

“Mr. President, dear Armen, on the occasion of the Republic of Armenia’s Independence Day, I send you, as well as the Armenian people, my wishes for happiness, prosperity, and success. I appreciate the significant path the Armenian people have traveled since gaining independence 30 years ago to build a modern and democratic state. By overcoming a series of challenges, your country has succeeded in strengthening the functioning of institutions.

France and Armenia are bound by deeply-rooted privileged relations in history. These close and reliable friendly relations continue today in all areas. I hope that this bond, which enriches our bilateral relations, will deepen further in various fields of cooperation such as culture, education, health, or the economy.

France seeks to play a role in peace in the region, and in this spirit, it stands beside Armenia, helping it to overcome the challenges it faces a year after the bloody war in Nagorno-Karabakh. In this regard, France specifically will undertake to preserve the cultural and spiritual heritage of the region, which reflects the uniqueness and richness of the South Caucasus.

Finally, we will spare no effort to find a lasting solution to the conflict within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship and to stabilize the situation in the South Caucasus for the benefit of the region’s development and prosperity. This also entails the resumption of dialogue between Armenia and Azerbaijan under the auspices of the Minsk Group co-chairmanship. France, as a co-chairing country, is ready to provide its support in this matter.

On this symbolic occasion, reaffirming my best wishes, I ask you to accept the assurance of my highest regard,” the message states.
