Andrey Rudenko on the Role of the OSCE Minsk Group in the Nagorno-Karabakh Issue
The Russian Federation continues to regard the OSCE Minsk Group as an important tool for promoting a peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. This was stated by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko in an interview with TASS in Tashkent.
In response to a question about whether the Minsk Group format remains relevant for the Russian side, Rudenko noted that it is not inactive. “Contacts continue, perhaps not as publicly, but they do continue. Our co-chair of the Minsk Group has visited Baku and Yerevan, where he held a series of meetings, including at a high level. Currently, the trio of co-chairs plans to meet in New York during the General Assembly, meeting both with each other and with the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan. If this happens, it will be a good sign that the negotiation process between the two countries has gained practical significance,” Rudenko stated.
