George Soros Must Be the 'Superman,' Apparently Responsible for Everything: US Ambassador to Armenia
“Frankly, it’s incomprehensible to me. George Soros seems to have to be the ‘Superman.’ He’s everywhere, doing everything. I think he has become a very convenient tool for those who cannot truly debate principles or engage in an honest discussion about differing opinions. It’s much easier to say, ‘Look, there’s some hidden, covert figure—it’s George Soros—who is puppeteering everything and is behind the scenes, instead of looking at the reality right in front of us. Poor George Soros is apparently responsible for everything,” said US Ambassador to Armenia Lynne Tracy during a broadcast on Public Television, addressing opinions that many ongoing processes in Armenia are artificially created and managed by George Soros and his foundations.
The ambassador expressed that blaming ongoing processes on “some shadowy, invisible figure” is not the right approach and attributing the resolution or lack of resolution of agenda issues to him is misguided. “As far as I know, Mr. Soros leads a foundation that supports democracy in different countries around the world. I believe there’s nothing malicious in that. Many are interested in working with governments to try to support, strengthen, and bolster democratic structures of society, which is a very important component of healthy, strong democracy. We certainly work with different representatives of civil society in Armenia and are very proud to do so. There’s nothing mysterious or inexplicable about it, as we share common specific values. In particular, people want transparency in government, accountable governance from their government. They want a fair and free chance to make decisions about who will lead their government. This is where the US and Armenia have a very solid area of cooperation and mutual interests,” Lynne Tracy added.
