VIDEO: Lava Erupting in the Canary Islands Destroys 100 Homes
The ongoing eruption of the Palmer volcano in the Canary Islands (Spain) has resulted in a massive flow of lava that has already destroyed 100 homes, according to TASS agency.
No casualties have been reported due to the natural disaster. It has been noted that all airports in the Canary Islands are operating as usual; however, evacuations are underway for nearly 10,000 residents from Palma island.
As of September 20, the lava has reached residential areas, blocking the island's roads. The volcanic eruption began on September 19, near the Cabeza de Vaca lake, located in the El Paso municipality. The Cumbra Vieja volcano last erupted 50 years ago.
