Prominent Armenian Actress and Writer Anahit Topchyan Has Passed Away
Anahit Topchyan, a prominent Armenian actress, writer, translator, and honored artist of the Republic of Armenia, passed away in Yerevan on September 20, 2021. She was the wife of literary critic, writer, and publicist Alexander Topchyan.
Born on August 21, 1947, in Artik, Anahit graduated from Yerevan State University with a degree in Russian philology in 1971. She became a member of the Armenian Writers' Union in 1998.
From 1967 to 1991, she worked at the H. Ghaplanian Drama Theater in Yerevan and performed over 100 roles in film, television theater, radio theater, and stage productions. In 1990, she founded an author theater, touring many countries, including France, the USA, Switzerland, Germany, Canada, Lebanon, Syria, and Cyprus, taking on the roles of stage director, scriptwriter, actress, and artistic director.
Since 1990, her works have been published in Armenian and foreign press, including journalistic and artistic articles, as well as fiction. Anahit has numerous translations from French literature, and her short stories have been translated into French, Spanish, German, English, Romanian, Greek, and Georgian.
She authored several collections, including "Lady S.D.F.", "Mirror", "Monologue from the Asylum", and "The Addressless Lady", as well as novels "Disappearance" and "Alarm". In 2012, her short story "Marathon" was staged at the D. Miyos Theater in Paris.
