Iran Demands Release of Detained Drivers
Iran is actively pursuing the issue regarding the detention of Iranian truck drivers by Azerbaijan, stated Saeed Khatibzadeh, spokesperson for the country's Foreign Ministry. It has been reported that Iran has demanded the immediate release of the drivers and has requested a meeting with officials to address this issue, as noted by armlur.am.
Recall that on the evening of September 15, Azerbaijani forces detained two drivers of Iranian trucks on the Goris-Kapan highway. Armed and masked Azerbaijani officers stopped Iranian truck drivers at their checkpoint located in the Vorotan section of the highway, checked their documents, demanded money, and justified their actions by stating that a fee must be paid to enter their country.
At the same time, a representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry emphasized the importance of prioritizing the territorial integrity of neighboring countries and stated that Iran aims to use its support for them in a balanced manner.
