Gunshots Reported: 2 Participants in Altercation Near ‘Yerevan Pantheon’ Identified
According to SHAMSHYAN.com, authorities from the Criminal Investigation Department of the Yerevan Police, along with officers from the Malatia and Sevan departments, detained two residents of Sevan on September 18 as part of extensive operational and investigative measures. The detainees were identified as 28-year-old Sergey Sargsyan and 31-year-old Hratchya Poghosyan.
These individuals are suspected of engaging in hooliganism near the 'Yerevan Pantheon' on September 14. On that day, a conflict occurred between the driver of a Toyota vehicle and a passenger in an Opel, 27-year-old Loris Karapetyan, during which gunshots were fired. Following the incident, police are preparing materials regarding the case, and signatures were taken from the suspects before they were released.
Earlier, it was reported that an extraordinary incident took place in Yerevan on September 14. Around 5:20 PM, police received a call that a confrontation was occurring near the main entrance of the ‘Yerevan Pantheon’, where shots had been fired.
According to a photojournalist, a police operational group, led by the head of the Yerevan police, Sevan Kocharyan, arrived at the scene, along with the operational group from Malatia led by the head of that department, Andranik Meloyan.
Police tracked the scene and discovered that an altercation occurred under unclear circumstances, during which the driver and passenger of the Toyota and the passenger of the Opel exchanged mutual blows. It was reported that the passenger of the Opel showed blatant disrespect toward society and fired a shot into the air from a gas pistol. A fired cartridge was also found at the scene. Malatia police were taking necessary operational and investigative measures to locate Loris K., the passenger of the Opel, the gas pistol used in the crime, as well as the Toyota vehicle and its driver and passenger.
