“How far will selling us go? Who is Aliyev to laugh at my nation?”: A woman from Shurnukh speaks to a France 24 correspondent
Ten months after the war that led Azerbaijan to establish control over the Nagorno-Karabakh region, Armenia's border areas face ongoing threats from Baku. France 24 reports, citing information released by official Yerevan, that in mid-May of this year, hundreds of Azerbaijani soldiers entered Armenian territory, specifically in the Syunik and Gegharkunik regions.
“This situation raises concerns and even panic in Armenia, especially in the border villages where incidents are frequent,” the report states along with a corresponding reportage.
In the report, a woman from Shurnukh, whose home has come under Azerbaijan's control, shares her feelings of despair as she reflects on the fact that she cannot access her own land this year. “How far will selling us go? I cannot get used to this. What does Aliyev want from our Armenian nation, who is he to laugh at my nation?” she states, adding that she needs neither help nor money.
