VIDEO: Drone Almost Melted While Filming Volcano Eruption in Iceland
A drone captured stunning footage of the Fagradalsfjall volcano in Iceland, filming from right above the crater. During the process, the drone nearly melted, according to MetroUK.
This volcano awakened for the first time in 800 years in March and continues to erupt. It is located 25 miles from the capital city of Reykjavik.
According to reports, millions of gallons of lava have poured out of the crater and flowed 1,300 feet downward. Photographer Luca Bracalini, realizing he would have the opportunity to witness the eruption, spent nearly six hours near Fagradalsfjall. During that time, eruptions were captured from a bird's eye view.
Bracalini was one kilometer away from the volcano while continuing to document this unique natural phenomenon. The images and videos obtained show close-ups of the volcanic eruptions and flowing lava. At one point, the device flew so low that it began to burn from the heat of the lava.
