A Real Massacre of Trees Has Taken Place on the Yerevan-Sevan Road

While Minister of Environment Romanos Petrosyan is beating his chest, declaring that not a single healthy tree will be cut down in the republic and that those who do so will face the strictest penalties, a true massacre of trees has occurred in the 34-35 km stretch of the Yerevan-Sevan highway heading towards Sevan.

As reported by photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, about 40-45-year-old massive healthy birch trees have been ruthlessly cut down, left bare on-site. Perhaps the perpetrators have not yet completed their heinous task, as the cut stumps have not been removed.
