31-Year-Old Police Officer Dies in Car Crash Involving Toyota Alphard and ZIL
Today, September 17, a major and tragic car accident occurred in the Kotayk Province. Around 05:40, on the 32 km section of the Yerevan-Sevan highway in the Charentsavan administrative area, a collision took place between a Toyota Alphard driven by 31-year-old Sevak Hayrumyan, a resident of Sevan, and a ZIL vehicle driven by 38-year-old Gagik Khachatryan from Gegharkunik Province.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, as a result of the accident, the driver of the Toyota, Sevak Hayrumyan, died on the spot, while a passenger, 24-year-old Narek Matevosyan, also a resident of Sevan, was transported to the Charentsavan medical center with bodily injuries.
Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene, including the Ministry of Emergency Situations’ fire and rescue service number 44 with one combat unit. Rescuers removed the deceased from the vehicle and brought him closer to the body transport vehicle that had arrived from the Charentsavan medical center.
Doctors at the Charentsavan hospital acted promptly, providing first aid to the injured individual before transferring him to the hospital. The fire and rescue teams disconnected the vehicles' battery power, closed the gas valve, and secured the area.
According to G. Shamshyan's reports, the deceased, Sevak Hayrumyan, was serving as a police officer in the 1st company of the patrol police unit in Yerevan. The injured Narek Matevosyan also works in the same unit.
