How the Collection of Teacher Certification Documents Will Be Implemented: The Ministry of Education Details

In today's meeting of the Armenian government, the executive has made changes to the regulations regarding the formation and functioning of the republican commissions for the certification of teachers in general education institutions, the granting of qualification categories, as well as the rules for providing bonuses to teachers who have obtained qualifications through certification. This information has been reported by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia.

The changes in the legal act were made to align with the provisions of the decision on approving the regulations for the retraining of teachers subject to the next certification in educational institutions implementing general educational programs, as well as to include changes resulting from the transition to an electronic process for gathering document packages.

According to the regulations, by May 1 of the relevant year, a note stating “subject to certification” will be made in the personal files of teachers subject to certification in the education management information system, and the principal will upload the teacher's document regarding participation in retraining courses and earned credits to the system in the teacher's profile section. Previously, the entire process was carried out in a paper format, which was labor-intensive and time-consuming; therefore, conducting the collection of documents required for certification in an electronic format will make the process more efficient.

The uploaded data will be stored electronically until the teacher's next certification, freeing educational institutions from the obligation of additional work. This information will also be accessible to the relevant commission, eliminating the need to transfer anything in paper format.

Thus, the adoption of the decision will facilitate the workflow of receiving document packages and will later contribute to the automation of certain processes in certification implementation. Furthermore, the proposed regulations will enable the retrieval of necessary information from the education management information system, including information on document packages, which will also be stored on the site until the next certification and will be automatically provided as needed.
