A Package Found in Inmate's Rectum Contained Broken Scalpel Tip and 2 Syringes: Details

On September 15, 2021, around 11:10 AM, employees of the Ministry of Justice's "Vanadzor" penitentiary, acting on operational information, searched the father of convict H. A., V. A., who had come for a short visit. During the search, a greenish substance resembling marijuana was found in one of the 15 cigarette rolls he was carrying. According to V. A.'s verbal statement, the other rolls also contained the same greenish substance resembling marijuana.

According to the Prison Service, on the same day at around 11:55 AM, employees of the "Artik" penitentiary, also acting on operational information, conducted a personal search of the inmate A. S., who had just exited a short visit. As a result of the search, a package was found in his rectum, containing a broken scalpel tip and two syringes, while a condom and a piece of dark yellow resin were found in the pocket of his pants.

Materials are being prepared on the facts, and a forensic chemical examination has been appointed.
