Why Azerbaijani Place Names Are Used: Seyran Ohanyan Has Doubts

Today, during a brief press conference with journalists, Seyran Ohanyan, a member of the "Hayastan" parliamentary group, commented on the case of Azerbaijani place names being used by the National Security Service (NSS). He stated, "I think there might be a hidden agenda behind this; in other words, they assume that after delimitation and demarcation, these areas will be transferred to the Azerbaijanis. I don't understand on what legal basis this should be carried out."

Ohanyan noted that the Armenian authorities continue to use Azerbaijani place names instead of Armenian ones, while the Azerbaijani authorities are trying to present opposing settlements with Azerbaijani names.

According to the MP, this is yet another pressure from the Azerbaijani leadership on the Armenian leadership, which was to be expected after the defeat in the war.
