Temporary Ban on Importing Live Pigs and Pork from Seven Countries to Prevent African Swine Fever in Armenia

To prevent the entry of African Swine Fever disease into the Republic of Armenia, a temporary ban has been imposed on the import of live pigs and pork from seven countries, effective September 17, according to the order of the director of the Food Safety Inspection Body of Armenia. The countries affected by this ban include Romania, the Republic of Moldova, the Federal Republic of Germany, the Republic of Latvia, Poland, Hungary, and the Republic of Bulgaria.

The import ban encompasses live pigs, their genetic materials, pork and other food meat raw materials, wild boar meat, finished products containing pork in their composition, horns and hooves, leather, intestinal raw materials, pig bristles, hunting trophies, and all types of feeds and supplements for pig feeding (except for synthetic and chemical substance-containing additives). This information is provided by the State Food Safety Service.

The basis for this restriction is the information published on the official website of the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) regarding the African Swine Fever disease reported in the aforementioned countries.
