‘Fabricated Scene’: ‘The Speaker of the National Assembly Must Clarify His Comments’ – Ani Samsonyan
Former National Assembly member Ani Samsonyan's Facebook post states: ‘The recent information published by the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia regarding the treatment and conditions of Armenian prisoners of war in Azerbaijan represents valuable documentation work that fully uncovers Azerbaijan's anti-Armenian, ethnic hatred policy and serious violations of international humanitarian law conventions.
The institution of the Human Rights Defender holds high authority and trust both domestically and internationally. Therefore, state officials are required to exhibit a thoughtful and respectful approach towards its activities.
Today, in response to the facts concerning the treatment of Armenian prisoners of war presented by the Human Rights Defender, the Speaker of the National Assembly characterized them as fabricated scenes and questioned the necessity of their publication.
The Speaker of the National Assembly must clarify his statements. How can a state official with such an approach represent Armenia on international platforms and expect serious consideration? The Armenian interest requires unified and systematic work. If state bodies are not harmonious and caring in the matter of protecting this interest, then speaking about Armenia's future is merely a pleasure of holding an official position. Just….’
