Azerbaijan Stops Three Armenian Trucks on Goris-Kapan Road
Azerbaijani forces stopped and checked three Armenian trucks on the Goris-Kapan road yesterday, reported the Deputy Mayor of Goris, Karo Kocharyan, to Lragir.am. Kocharyan indicated that there are long queues of Iranian trucks in Syunik.
He added that he is unaware whether negotiations are being held to resolve the situation created on the road, as the community leaders have not been informed about it. Kocharyan mentioned that he has information that Azerbaijani forces also stopped a bus traveling from Iran to Armenia yesterday.
According to Karo Kocharyan, the Azerbaijani side is presenting its demands, while the Armenian side is not responding to them. “They are making demands, insisting 100 percent that this is their territory. If our side does not react to what they are saying, it implies acquiescence to their claim of territory,” he noted.
Kocharyan also emphasized that the areas known as 'Eyvazli' and 'Chayazami' have historically been part of Armenian territory. “During the Soviet era, they gradually transferred to the adversary, but I do not know under what status,” he added.
