Restoring the Combat Readiness of the Defense Army Should Be Every Commander's Mission: Tigran Abrahamyan
General Arzumanyan took on the role of Defense Army Commander during a difficult phase of the war. Kamо Vardanyan assumes command of the Defense Army, which is undergoing reorganization, in another complex situation.
This was stated by Tigran Abrahamyan, a member of the National Assembly from the "I Have Honor" faction, on his Facebook page:
“I am trying to find the rationale behind the change in the Defense Army commander in the context of new challenges facing the armed forces. This, of course, is provided that this change is not in the realm of irrationality. What could the dismissed Defense Army commander have failed to do that the newly appointed one is capable of? It is also important to understand why Mikhail Arzumanyan left his position—was it due to official advancement or insufficient results? Perhaps he simply got tired and deemed his continued service inappropriate.
In such difficult phases, the role of individuals is crucial, but it is even more important to understand what challenge the Defense Army of Artsakh is facing, how it will ensure the fulfillment of these challenges, and only in this context evaluate the capabilities of the new commander and the dismissal of his predecessor.
Regardless of the public evaluations of Mikhail Arzumanyan and Kamo Vardanyan, one thing must be noted. General Arzumanyan took on the role of Defense Army Commander during a hard phase of the war, and Kamo Vardanyan will take on the command of the Defense Army undergoing reorganization in another complex situation. The combat readiness of the Defense Army must not only be restored but elevated to a qualitatively new and higher level; this should be the mission of any commander,” he wrote.
