Sasun Khachatryan on the Origins of 4.3 Million Dram Gift to Daughter

Daniel Ioannisyan, head of the 'Informed Citizens' Union NGO, addressed Sasun Khachatryan, the candidate for the position of head of the Anti-Corruption Committee and head of the Special Investigation Service. He referred to information provided by Khachatryan about his father creating 'Mher Khachatryan and Partners' LLC in 2016, where he worked as a director from 2016-2017. After starting a job with the Investigative Committee in July 2017, he ceased his activities.

“No data was found regarding payments made to the 'Fund for the Insurance of Servicemen' during the period from January to July 2017. No payments were found related to 'Mher Khachatryan and Partners' LLC; how do you explain this?” asked Daniel Ioannisyan.

In response, Sasun Khachatryan noted that if he wasn’t mistaken, during that time the mentioned company did not provide paid services. “The director was my father; he became ill, and we did not work,” Sasun Khachatryan stated.

Daniel Ioannisyan also inquired about the details surrounding the 4.3 million dram gift given to his daughter. “Among the donors was Tigran Gevorgyan, to whom your wife transferred 100 percent of the shares of 'Operational Office Number One' LLC in 2018. Could you elaborate on this?”

The head of the Special Investigation Service, who is a candidate for head of the Anti-Corruption Committee, responded as follows: “My daughter got married last year, and in connection with the wedding, the newlyweds received gifts in the form of money from relatives and friends on both sides. The 4.3 million dram is not an amount that could not be received as a wedding gift from the relatives and friends of both sides,” he emphasized.
