Construction of a New Bridge Over Debed River Between Armenia and Georgia is Underway

Construction works for a new bridge over the Debed River in the area of the Sadakhlo-Bagratasen border crossing point between Armenia and Georgia are currently in active progress. The Road Department has reported that drilling works have already been completed, and the reinforcement and pouring of concrete for the bridge's foundations are underway. The construction of the bridge is proceeding according to the construction phase's work plan, with work having commenced in the spring of this year.

It is worth noting that the construction of the new bridge over the Debed River at the Bagratasen-Sadakhlo border crossing point is a joint project between Armenia and Georgia, financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, as well as the governments of Armenia and Georgia. The total budget for the project amounts to approximately €9 million, of which €7.2 million is provided by the EBRD as a loan, and €1.8 million comes from the budgetary resources of the two countries. A contract for the design and construction of the bridge has been signed with an Iranian company.

The project for the bridge's construction is being implemented by the Road Department.
