We Have No Issues with the Law: Avanesyan on Mandatory Vaccination

Everything is being done within the framework of the Constitution and the laws of Armenia. This was stated by the Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan during a conversation with journalists, addressing the amendments that will come into force on October 1.

“In Armenia, the law on 'Sanitary and Epidemiological Protection of the Population' is in effect, which has explicit provisions, and based on these, subordinate legal acts have been adopted that stem from the laws. The stipulated norm fully complies with all requirements. We have no issues,” the minister noted.

Responding to a comment that the draft states if the Prime Minister, lawmakers, and other officials do not get vaccinated, they will not become unemployed, while an ordinary citizen who does not get vaccinated will become unemployed, Anahit Avanesyan remarked that the discussion pertains to the 'Public Service Law,' the amendments of which cannot apply to those holding political positions; however, that does not mean they are entirely excluded from the regulation.

“At this moment, the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Ministers, and Ministers have been vaccinated. I believe we already have a 100 percent vaccination rate. Therefore, there can be no talk of discrimination here,” said Anahit Avanesyan.
