VIDEO: Large Amounts of Drugs and Ammunition Discovered in Yerevan
As part of the "Cannabis-Poppy-2021" complex operational-preventive measure, officers from the main department of criminal police, the Yerevan city police department, and the Erebuni division apprehended a 30-year-old man in the intersection of Davit Bek and Nubarashen streets in the capital. During a personal search, three polyethylene packages containing white crystalline substances, a roll, and a jewelry scale were discovered. The detainee confessed that the substances found were methamphetamine.
Law enforcement took extensive measures to determine from whom and by what means the 30-year-old man acquired the drugs. It turned out that the methamphetamine was periodically delivered to him by a 46-year-old resident of Yerevan, through his 24-year-old son. The police verified their location. On September 2, on Artashat Highway, the 46-year-old resident of Yerevan, his 24-year-old son, and a 44-year-old man were apprehended on suspicion of drug possession, use, and distribution.
During a search of the 44-year-old man, 0.29 grams of a greenish substance, a scorched glass dropper, and a homemade glass pipe were discovered. The man stated at the police station that the substance was marijuana, and he had used the pipe for crystal. Law enforcement had strong suspicions that the crystal was supplied to him by the detained 46-year-old resident, which was confirmed.
The police also had other information regarding the criminal activities of the 46-year-old man. As a result of the measures taken, it was established that he kept various types of drugs, as well as weapons and ammunition in different locations. Under the pressure of irrefutable evidence, the man confessed and pointed out a hideout in the basement of one of the buildings on Vilnius Street. From this location, authorities seized 983 grams of methamphetamine, a "Makarov" pistol loaded with 7 bullets, 7 bullets of 9mm caliber, a magazine loaded with 7 bullets, a silver pistol, a magazine with 3 bullets, an "AKM" assault rifle, an "RPK" machine gun, 4 grenades, a container loaded with 45 bullets, 24 magazines for the assault rifle, each loaded with 30 bullets, a suppressor for the assault rifle, 56 bullets for the assault rifle, 5 signal rockets, 3 "F-1" grenades, 1 "RGD" grenade, 4 fuses for the grenades, body armor, formulas for chemical substances, dosages, and a ledger containing names and amounts.
The suspect's residence was also searched, where 14.28 grams of methamphetamine, 6.82 grams of opium, 11 grams of marijuana, a "Saiga" assault rifle with 16 bullets, and 2 magazines loaded with 19 bullets, as well as 33 bullets for a smooth-bore shotgun, were discovered. According to the 46-year-old man, the weapons and ammunition were brought from Artsakh, and he had sold the drugs to various individuals. Expert examinations have been appointed. The preliminary investigation of the criminal case is ongoing.
