18 Drug Dealers Arrested in Special Operation in Georgia
A large-scale special operation was simultaneously conducted in Tbilisi, Lagodekhi, Marneuli, Rustavi, and Batumi, resulting in the arrest of 21 individuals, of whom 18 are suspected of drug dealing. This was announced at a press briefing by Badri Mchedlishvili, a representative of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs, as reported by Armenpress.
The investigation revealed that the arrested individuals systematically sold drugs. Prior to the arrests, undercover purchases were conducted, and all actions were recorded. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, three of those arrested were distributors. They concealed the drugs in various locations around Tbilisi for illegal sales.
During the searches of their residences, large quantities of various drugs were confiscated, including up to eight liters of a new psychoactive substance. Additionally, a significant amount of cash was seized during the raids.
A criminal case has been initiated under the article “Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, possession, transportation, sending or sale of drugs, their analogs, precursors or new psychoactive substances.” The article provides for a penalty of 8 to 20 years of imprisonment or life imprisonment.
