France to Assist Armenia in Overcoming Consequences of Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict

French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian has sent a congratulatory message to Ararat Mirzoyan on his appointment as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, in which he notably stated:

“Dear Minister, on the occasion of assuming the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, I extend my warm congratulations to you, expressing my anticipation for the prospect of working closely and in a climate of trust with you.

Your country has faced a number of security, economic, and health challenges in recent months. I wish to reaffirm France's full support to the Armenian people during this difficult phase.”

“France and Armenia share privileged relations based on deep historical and cultural ties and a rich agenda. The quality of Armenian-French political dialogue obliges us to deepen our economic cooperation, particularly to benefit the unblocking and diversification of Armenia's economy.”

“France will continue to assist Armenia in overcoming the consequences of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, which has resulted in numerous human losses, and as a co-chair of the Minsk Group, will remain committed to seeking pathways for a lasting resolution of the issue.”

“If recent incidents highlight the need for your country to work towards the delimitation and demarcation of its borders, we hope that the recent positive dynamics arising from the exchange of maps of prisoners of war and minefields will help restore trust between the parties.”

“France acts as a peace broker in the South Caucasus region and stands alongside Armenia to achieve the much-needed and long-awaited peace.”
