VIDEO: He called and said, goodbye, grandpa. From 40, we were left with 11
Narek Kartashyan, who lost his life in the Artsakh war, served in Martuni as an artilleryman. His father, Tigran Kartashyan, recounts that two out of four cannons were broken, and Narek repaired them and fought with them.
“On October 13, he called and said, goodbye, grandpa, stay brave,” recalls his father. Narek joined the war as a volunteer without telling his family. He left on October 5, heading to the Varanda region.
“They told that by the 12th, they had no ammunition and no weapons. The last call from my son was on October 14, and he said, ‘From 40, we were left with 11,’” his father shares.
According to him, his son was wounded in the leg, but he refused to go to the hospital when they came to evacuate him, as he was the only sniper in the group.
Narek Kartashyan was born on April 10, 1999. He was killed in the battles for the defense of his homeland on October 14, 2020.
