Death Toll from Two Explosions near Kabul Airport Rises to 103, Including U.S. Soldiers
On August 26, the death toll from two explosions near Kabul airport has reached 103, as reported by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ). According to the newspaper, among the deceased are 90 Afghans and 13 American soldiers.
The explosions occurred at the entrance of the airport building and were carried out by suicide bombers. The radical group 'Taliban', which has taken control of Afghanistan, strongly condemned the incidents and promised to hold those responsible accountable.
A tense situation arose at the airport in the capital after the Taliban entered Kabul on August 15 without a fight and quickly established complete control over the city. Afghan President Ashraf Ghani announced that he was leaving the country to prevent bloodshed. Several countries have started evacuating their citizens and embassy personnel, as reported by TASS.
