Biden Orders Strikes Prepared Against ISIS Following Kabul Explosions
U.S. President Joe Biden has ordered preparations for strikes against leaders and facilities of the "Wilayat Khorasan" terrorist group, which is an affiliate of the "Islamic State" and is accused of orchestrating explosions near Kabul airport.
“We have directed our commanders to develop operational plans for strikes against ISIS-K's assets, leadership, and facilities. We will respond forcefully and accurately at a time and place of our choosing,” said Biden.
He emphasized that those responsible for the attacks will be found and punished. Biden assured that the U.S. will find ways to reach them. Furthermore, the President stated that he “fundamentally” accepts his responsibility for everything that occurs in Afghanistan.
On August 26, two explosions rocked the area near Kabul airport, one of which occurred not far from the “Baron” hotel, where, according to media reports, foreigners, including citizens from the UK and the USA, had gathered.
The first explosion was carried out by a suicide bomber, followed by a vehicle packed with explosives detonating. According to the Afghan Ministry of Public Health, the terrorist attack resulted in 103 fatalities, including 13 U.S. servicemen. More than 150 people were injured, including 18 American soldiers.
Media outlets, citing a statement from ISIS, reported that the terrorist organization claimed responsibility for the attack. The U.S. believes that the attacks were carried out by the “Wilayat Khorasan” terrorist group, which operates in the regions of Afghanistan and Pakistan.
