Moscow Establishes Contact with Afghanistan's New Authorities
Russia has established working contacts with representatives of the Taliban movement (activities of this organization are banned in the Russian Federation) in order to ensure the security of the Russian diplomatic mission, the Russian Foreign Ministry has announced.
“The Russian embassy in Kabul continues to operate as usual. Working contacts have been established with representatives of the new authorities to ensure the safety of the Russian institution,” the statement said.
The diplomatic department noted that the Russian side is monitoring the development of the situation. The situation in the country, particularly in Kabul, is stabilizing. The Islamists are maintaining public order and have ensured the safety of local residents and members of diplomatic missions.
It is worth recalling that the situation in Afghanistan has escalated in recent weeks when members of the radical movement “Taliban” launched attacks on major cities.
