I Want to Be Removed Because I'm Not from Their Team: Kapan Community Mayor

Eight members of the Kapan City Council have submitted their resignation letters, and a corresponding record has been drawn up and sent to the regional governor's office. Kapan Mayor Gevorg Parsyan stated this in an interview with Factinfo, noting that the record was created on August 11.

The mayor believes this will lead to early elections for the city council in Kapan. 'According to the law, the government must make such a decision; there is no decision yet, but I am confident that it will happen,' Parsyan said.

The Kapan mayor mentioned that after the elections, five council members were immediately dismissed from their jobs at the Copper-Molybdenum Plant. 'During the campaign, Nikol Pashinyan announced this. They had dismissed 38 people from the Copper-Molybdenum Plant, and among those 38 were five city council members of Kapan. After being dismissed from work, the council members were summoned by the NSS to provide explanations; afterward, eight individuals submitted applications for early termination of their powers,' Parsyan noted.

The Kapan mayor sees a specific intent behind this. 'They want to remove me because I am not from their team; after the war, I opposed them,' he stated. Regarding why these processes are being carried out particularly against the mayors of Syunik, Parsyan remarked, 'The most defiant region after the war was Syunik.'
