Worrying Indicators in Animal Husbandry Sector
The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reports that the Statistical Committee of Armenia has recorded worrying indicators in the animal husbandry sector. The publication has learned that the turnover in this sector amounted to 160 billion 643 million 800 thousand drams, which is a decrease of 1.4 percent compared to 2020.
In other words, agricultural households have significantly reduced the number of livestock this year. Moreover, experts have stated that a further decline in the animal husbandry sector will be recorded this year, as farmers are facing serious issues with animal feed. It is not only expensive but also scarce, forcing farmers to resort to slaughtering their livestock.
According to the Statistical Committee, the gross agricultural and fishing output in our republic for the first six months of this year amounted to 297 billion 779 million drams, which is an increase of 6.5 percent compared to 2020. The official output of crop production reached 117 billion 350 million drams, which is a 22.1 percent increase from the indicators of 2020.
