New Details on the Tragic Accident on the Sevan-Yerevan Highway

On August 9, 2021, around 18:15, a 35-year-old man lost control of his vehicle, an Opel Combo, while driving on the Sevan-Yerevan highway at the 16th kilometer mark, under the bridge leading to Abovyan. He collided with the bridge's support, resulting in the immediate death of a 31-year-old woman and her 4-year-old son, who both suffered fatal injuries at the scene.

A criminal case has been initiated at the Abovyan investigative division of the Kotayk Regional Directorate of the RA Investigative Committee under Article 242, Part 3 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. An examination of the scene has been conducted. Forensic examinations of the deceased have been ordered. Drivers who witnessed the incident have been questioned. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
