Who Will Take Responsibility for These Predictions? - Nairi Hovhikyan
Journalist Nairi Hovhikyan wrote on his Facebook page: “Nikol Pashinyan admitted during a government meeting that we have serious problems with predictions, and everyone should be held accountable for their forecasts.
Let me remind you of several incorrect and disastrous predictions made by the government:
- November 2018: The Armenia-Iran border could be de facto closed at any moment. The words of the Prime Minister of Armenia cause serious dissatisfaction in the Iranian political sphere.
- March 2020: The coronavirus is not dangerous and will not reach us, hence there is no need for preventive measures. The request of Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan to close the borders was considered unserious at the government meeting.
- July 2020: Turkey will not intervene in a possible war against Artsakh in any manner. The warnings from analysts and journalists regarding Turkish “Bayraktars” were deemed unfounded panic by the head of government.
- August 2020: Armenia does not need its own satellite. This was the statement of then-Minister of High-Tech Industry Hakob Arshakyan, while in April 2021, Nikol Pashinyan blamed the previous authorities for not having a satellite.
- September 2020: New war, new territories... Continue the list of wrong and disastrous predictions made by the Armenian authorities yourself.
Who will take responsibility for these predictions and the thousands of human, material, and territorial losses incurred?
