It Is Not Nice to Gather 'Schmucks' This Way: Shurnukh Village Head on Child Abduction

Reports about a child abduction in the Shurnukh community of Syunik do not correspond to reality. This information was revealed in an interview with Vardan Tadevosyan, spokesperson for the Investigative Committee of Armenia, in a conversation with Sputnik Armenia.

Earlier, Andreas Ghukasyan, head of the Free Homeland party, confirmed to Sputnik Armenia that during January-February, Azerbaijanis had abducted a child in Shurnukh and subjected them to sexual violence before returning them to the village.

“I spoke with both the current and former heads of the investigative department of Syunik province. They stated that there is no such information in the Investigative Committee of Syunik. No criminal case has been initiated; these are just rumors,” he said.

We also tried to obtain clarification from Hakob Arshakyan, the administrative head of Shurnukh regarding the incident. Arshakyan also denied the information and urged people not to spread such false news.

“There is no such thing; in reality, there is nothing to hide. If such a thing had happened, I would have been one of the first to know. This is a village. Every family can take care of themselves; it is not nice to gather ‘schmucks’ in this way,” noted Arshakyan.

It is worth recalling that in an interview with the Noyan Tapan news agency, Andreas Ghukasyan stated that the impossibility of peaceful coexistence with Azerbaijan is evident, claiming that Azerbaijanis had abducted a child from Shurnukh and subjected them to sexual violence. This information has also spread on some news outlets and Telegram channels.
