Russian Side Opposes Grigoryan’s Appointment as Foreign Minister: What Decision Will Pashinyan Make?

According to the newspaper "Zhoghovurd," four days after the first session of the eighth convocation of the National Assembly, one ministerial position remains vacant. This concerns the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia. Although Armen Grigoryan is currently the First Deputy Minister, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan seems in no hurry to appoint him or anyone else to the position.

According to the Constitution, Nikol Pashinyan has five days to form the government, meaning this deadline will expire tomorrow, and a decision must be made. However, it may not be so straightforward.

The matter is that, according to information from "Zhoghovurd," the Russian side opposes the appointment of Armen Grigoryan to this position. Currently, the government's decision hangs on the Speaker of the Seventh Convocation of Parliament, Araik Mirzoyan, who is a more acceptable candidate for the Russian side. However, a final decision has not yet been made.

Despite the fact that the government's overall composition is almost ready, they are struggling to find a candidate for the most crucial official position.
