New Law: All Labor Migrants in Russia Must Undergo Mandatory Fingerprinting
As of December 29, all labor migrants in Russia will be required to undergo fingerprinting. This information was reported by the press center of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
“On December 29, 2021, a federal law comes into effect, which mandates that foreign citizens arriving in Russia for the purpose of job searching, as well as foreigners arriving for a period exceeding 90 days, must be fingerprinted,” the press center of the ministry stated.
Additionally, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs has noted that the law also includes provisions for federal state control over compliance with mandatory requirements for passing a Russian language exam, understanding the basics of Russian history, and the legislation of the Russian Federation, as well as granting relevant certificates to foreign citizens.
A unified document in electronic format is also expected to be introduced for foreign citizens, which will ensure 100% identification of foreigners.
