During the April War, There Were No Intelligence Issues, Ohanyan Denies Sarkisian's Statement
During the April War in 2016, Armenia had no issues related to intelligence, stated Seyran Ohanyan, the head of the "Armenia" parliamentary faction and former Minister of Defense, in a briefing with journalists at the National Assembly.
Ohanyan said, "We did not have problems at the strategic and operational-tactical levels in relation to intelligence during the April War." It should be noted that on August 19, 2020, President Serzh Sargsyan stated during a press conference that the April four-day war was a surprise for the Armenian side due to failures in intelligence.
When journalists asked Ohanyan for his comments on this, he replied that he had not heard such claims. Sargsyan had declared that they were unaware that Azerbaijan was preparing for large-scale military actions, noting that our intelligence had fallen short in this regard, which was not surprising. He mentioned that preliminary information was already received on April 1, in the afternoon, about Azerbaijan preparing a diversionary operation.
