Divided Relationships in the CP Have Intensified: 'Hraparak'
The newspaper 'Hraparak' writes that the issue of electing the heads of the permanent committees of the National Assembly within the 'Civil Contract' newly formed faction has deepened internal party contradictions, and the relationships between divided factions of the ruling party have worsened.
Last time, the CP leadership, headed by Nikol Pashinyan, elected the leadership of the National Assembly and then presented it to the faction. This time, Pashinyan decided to play democracy, and the election of the committee heads was organized within the faction; however, many believe that there was direction from 'behind the scenes' regarding who should be entrusted with the presidency of which committee.
For example, many are puzzled by how Vagarshak Hakobyan, a classmate of Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, received the most votes among the candidates for the chair of the Regional and Eurasian Integration Committee, and he is considered an ally of Ararat Mirzoyan. His competitors were Vahagn Hovakimyan and Hovik Aghazaryan, with Hakobyan receiving nearly 40 votes, Hovakimyan 8, while Aghazaryan received a few votes.
However, if Hakobyan was the deputy chair of that committee, and perhaps were guided by his 'experience', the fact of electing Gevorg Papoyan, a member of the Economic Committee, as the chair of the Education and Science Committee is unclear. This is especially so since committee member Lilit Stepanyan and Taguhi Ghazaryan were also nominated.
Yesterday, the National Assembly did not manage to discuss the issue of the committee chairmen, which will take place today.
