VIDEO: Awkward Situation in the National Assembly as Garegin II Overlooks Hasanov's Outstretched Hand
The inaugural session of the newly elected National Assembly saw an awkward moment unfold. The oldest member of parliament, Knyaz Hasanov, expressed gratitude to the President of Armenia, Armen Sarkissian, and Garegin II, the Catholicos of All Armenians, for attending the 8th session of the National Assembly and the oath-taking ceremony of the MPs, according to news.am.
"Thank you, esteemed President, thank you, Your Holiness," he said as he shook hands with President Armen Sarkissian. However, when he turned to extend his hand to Garegin II, he noticed that the Catholicos was already departing. Hasanov attempted to reach out, but Garegin II did not look his way and continued to leave.
