SPORT. Tokyo 2020. Arman Darchinyan and Arman Melikyan Suffer Defeats
In the boxing tournament of the 32nd Summer Olympic Games taking place in Tokyo, Armenian representative Arman Darchinyan (75 kg) suffered an early defeat against Filipino Eumir Marcial in the quarterfinals and was eliminated from further competition. It is worth noting that a victory would have secured Darchinyan an Olympic medal.
Arman Darchinyan started his journey at the Tokyo Olympics with a win. In the Round of 16, his opponent was Slovak Andrej Semen, against whom our athlete achieved a confident victory with a score of 5-0.
Similarly, in the wrestling tournament of the 32nd Summer Olympic Games, Armenian Greco-Roman wrestler Armen Melikyan began his competition with a victory but faced defeat in the quarterfinals. In his opening match, Melikyan won against Iran's Ali Reza Nejati with a score of 5-5. However, in the quarterfinals, the Armenian wrestler lost to Ukrainian Lenur Timurov with a score of 4-8. If Timurov reaches the finals, Melikyan will have the opportunity to continue his quest for a medal.
