Russian Peacekeepers Ensure Safe Movement of Over 2000 Vehicles Through Lachin Corridor to Artsakh

Russian peacekeeping forces have ensured the safe movement of more than two thousand vehicles through the Lachin corridor to Artsakh during the week, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense.

“The personnel at the observation post is carrying out round-the-clock measures to monitor the movement of vehicles and peaceful residents through the Lachin corridor. Every day, more than two hundred vehicles pass through our observation post in both directions. Moreover, each vehicle goes through a verification procedure, and the driver and passenger provide identification documents. If all requirements are met, the vehicle is allowed to continue its journey,” said Leonid Stepanov, a representative of the Russian peacekeeping group in Nagorno-Karabakh.

The Russian peacekeepers continue to carry out tasks to maintain the ceasefire in the separation line and ensure the safety of road transportation and the transit of food and various goods through the Lachin corridor. Over the past week, no violations of the ceasefire regime have been recorded in the area of responsibility of the peacekeeping forces, and there have been no provocative actions against Russian servicemen.

Additionally, the personnel of the observation posts of the Russian peacekeeping group regularly conduct combat readiness and drills to prevent violations and possible attacks on the observation points.

All observation posts of the Russian peacekeeping group are equipped with “Block Post” fortification structures that are designed to protect servicemen from weapon fire and shrapnel, as well as to carry out comprehensive monitoring of the surrounding area.

It is recalled that on November 9, the leaders of Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan reached an agreement on the deployment of Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh, and a statement was signed that transferred seven regions of Artsakh to Azerbaijan, along with Shushi and Hadrut, except for one village and villages from the Askeran and Martuni regions, as well as the villages of Talish and Mataghis from the Martakert region.
