Gegamasar Community Leader Discusses Border Situation

Currently, the situation in the border area of the Gegamasar community is calm. This was reported to 24 News by the community leader Hakob Avetyan.

“There may have been a few light shots fired, of which I am not aware, but overall the situation is stable; we have not encountered clashes or incidents,” he noted.

It is important to mention that starting from July 29, at 23:00, there were recorded attempts of drones entering the Armenian airspace in the Gegharkunik section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. As a result of actions taken by the RA Armed Forces' air defense units, these attempts were thwarted, and an “Aerostar” type drone in the arsenal of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces was shot down, with its debris landing 3.5 kilometers north of the village of Vanavan in the Gegharkunik region.

Earlier, on July 28, 3 Armenian servicemen were killed as a result of offensive military actions carried out by Azerbaijan along the borders of Armenia from Sotk to Verin Shorzha.
