A powerful explosion has rocked the waste incineration plant in Leverkusen, Germany, according to Bild. Thick black smoke is rising from the site. There are currently no reports of injuries.

The company has confirmed information about the explosion. In a statement on Twitter, they noted, “Firefighters and air quality monitoring vehicles are working at the scene. We urge residents to keep their doors and windows closed.”

The local police have closed nearby highways. The causes of the explosion are still unknown.
