Resignations Begin in the Ministry of Defense Due to Arshak Karapetyan
Following the appointment of Arshak Karapetyan as the first deputy minister of defense, a series of dismissals has begun in the Ministry of Defense of Armenia. This information was obtained by Sputnik Armenia from its own sources.
The crux of the matter is that Karapetyan has had strained relations with heads of several departments, and previously there have been unpleasant incidents, including insults and personal affronts. Now, as the former first deputy chief of the General Staff has effectively replaced the recently dismissed acting minister Vagharshak Harutyunyan, those who could not find common ground with Karapetyan have chosen to leave voluntarily, rather than wait for their dismissal.
Specifically, according to information we received, resignation letters have been submitted by the heads of the capital construction department, the main department of personnel and military education policy, the legal department, and several leaders of structures subordinate to the Ministry of Defense.
It is reminded that Karapetyan was appointed as the first deputy minister of defense on July 20, by the decision of acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Prior to this, he had been removed from the position of deputy chief of the General Staff.
