Charchyan's Powers as Director of 'Izmirlian' Medical Center Terminated
Recently, member of the 'Armenia' alliance and notable doctor Armen Charchyan was released from the 'Vardashen' prison facility. The court, presided over by Judge Vahe Misakyan, changed the professor's pre-trial detention to bail of 15 million drams.
The publication attempted to contact Charchyan, but his phone was turned off. Defense attorney Erik Aleksanyan stated in an interview with the media outlet that Charchyan's powers as director of the medical center have been terminated due to an ongoing investigation. Additionally, Charchyan is set to receive a parliamentary mandate from the 'Armenia' alliance, which cannot be combined with his role as a director.
“Armen Charchyan stated that he could have treated so many people, but the state has impeded that. However, since the prosecution believes he may obstruct the investigation at the medical center, we do not wish to take advantage of that status,” the lawyer noted.
The 'Izmirlian' Medical Center also confirmed that they have no information regarding Mr. Charchyan's attendance.
It is noteworthy that Charchyan has been charged under Article 154.2 of the RA Criminal Code for bribing voters, receiving bribes, violating regulations regarding charity during elections, or obstructing the free will of voters.
Recall that a recording circulated on the internet in which Charchyan urged his medical center staff to participate in the snap parliamentary elections. According to the defense team, a modified version of that recording was presented in court, and in its complete version, there was no threat or pressure exerted on the staff.
